denim morris chair

I love America. So much, in fact, I painted my back porch as a flag and furthered my obsession by hanging a 9 foot flag in my bedroom. Then…I won a vintage morris chair in auction and had it reupholstered with a 48-star Valley Forge flag. It was an interesting process because the seamstress suffered from a mild case of PTSD after reality sunk in that she had cut up the American flag to make me a chair. I tried to convince her that it was probably the most patriotic thing she could ever do…but she wasn’t happy with me. It comes as no surprise that I’ve since sought upholstery work elsewhere.

The problem with this chair is that somedays I love it and somedays hate it. It’s an extreme piece of furniture and really demands the room…so I’ve moved it all over the place (including brief stints in storage). When I’m in hate mode, It makes me sad because the chair itself is soooo comfortable. That’s when it hit me…why not have alternate covers made so I can switch them out when I’m not in a patriotic sort of mood?

Since denim is having, yet, another moment…I kind of flipped out when I found this fabric. The texture was so gorgeous and I knew this was it. I purchased 3 yards and the rest was history. I wish I could cover an entire couch in it…but it’s quite pricey!

Happy to have a chair with two personalities…I love how the denim looks with the antique wood. Couldn’t be happier with how it looks. Pillows in this fabric coming soooooooon.
