“I’ve spent too long away from home
Did all the things I could have done
Gone are the days of endless thrills
I know I’m not the only one
So long…I’m goin…goin home.”
The best concerts don’t necessarily require outrageous attire or back-up dancers. They aren’t always in the biggest arenas and the tickets aren’t always sold out. The best concerts are the ones where the live version of your favorite song outweighs the album version. It comes to the point where you don’t even want to listen to your CD anymore – just take me back to that concert. Saturday night, Carlye and I attended the Dan Auerbach concert [con Jackson and Taylor Brasher – “The Brash Brothers”] and it was a pleasant experience for my ears – truly beautiful music.
First of all…he has an amazing voice so the vocals were fantastic.
Second of all…he had two percussionists and an organ. Jackson labeled the organ music as very sinister and I liked that word choice a lot. Also, it’s not everyday you have two percussionists [I’m having flashbacks of a bearded, hippie-looking man wearing a poncho and banging the triangle and the cymbals].
Third of all…after the show, Carlye and I hit up the honky-tonks for a few hours before returning to my vehicle. Upon arriving, we found Dan standing next to his tour bus…I definitely rolled my window down and told him I loved HIM and HIS SHOW…what a great night. Cage the Elephant on Wednesday…woot.
