Currently for sale at White’s Mercantile, this vintage azilal measures 52” x 98”. Much like the Beni Ourain, Azilal rugs are one-of-a-kind pieces, woven from dyed and undyed sheep’s wool. They come from the Tadla-Azilal province in the Atlas Mountains and are produced by the Ait Bouzid, Ait Shokmane, Ait Bou Oulli and Ait Bougmez tribes. Far rarer than the Beni Ourains, they often feature similar natural ivory and ebony diamond lattice designs on a neutral white background, but are distinguished by their abstract highlights.
