postcards: bath, england

A few years ago, we stopped for a few hours in Bath, England and I swore that on our next trip, we’d arrange for a few nights in this gorgeous city surrounded by the English countryside. Only 90 minutes outside of London, it’s literally the perfect getaway from the city…but with all of the urban perks.

We chose to stay in a small area called Widcombe – only a small walk down the River Avon into the city center. Widcombe had it’s own little high street that housed a laundromat, coffee shop, deli, and supermarket – all we needed! We stayed in this airbnb and loved our host.

My favorite part of Bath was visiting the Royal Crescent and having a glass of champagne at the Royal Crescent Hotel…followed by dinner at The Circus. I’m currently in the process of convincing my family to return for Christmas – which is supposed to be phenomenal. In addition to The Royal Crescent, I’d also recommend The Jane Austen CenterThe Roman Baths, and The Pulteney Weir/Bridge.

A few of my favorites from the trip were: The Boater for drinks by the river, The Riverside Café for food/coffee by the river, TCS for clothing, and Savannah Home for interiors. I also love walking down Walcot Street…there are shops all the way down to The Bell Inn where you can grab beers. The Fig Store and a few thrift shops are down that way…along with Farrow & Ball.
