postcards: chicago

This past weekend, some friends and I traveled up to Chicago for our first annual Monday Night Football trip. We decided that each year, we’ll put all of the MNF games into a hat and choose the city for which we’d be attending. This year, we drew Chicago and because we’d all been there before it turned out to be such a nice, leisurely trip. Lots and lots of excellent food, drinks, and football :)

We stayed at The Acme Hotel in River North district of Chicago. We were two blocks from Michigan Ave, one block from The L, and across the street from Bloomingdales :) The hotel was extra quirky and perfectly located. We loved it.

The Berkshire Room, located in the lobby of the Acme, was such a beauty. I loved the entire space from floor to ceiling. Not to mention, the drinks were delicious! Such a cool bar.

When we first arrived on Sunday, we headed to The Signature Room at the 95th for brunch. This brunch was EPIC. As many entrees as you like, endless buffet, and mimosas galore…all for a set price of $45/person. I downed some apple pie pancakes while staring into the foggy skyline…it was such an ultimate fat kid experience!

When researching this trip…all I kept reading was that “you must go to Three Dots and a Dash!” However, nobody really elaborated on whyyyy this bar was so fun. It’s located in an alley behind Clark Street, down a skull-laden hatch, behind a curtain and into a modern day….TIKI BAR!!!! Such a fun and unexpected surprise! As a group, we downed a delicious, fiery, zombie-punch-skull-fishbowl-situation…and it was a really, really, really good time. I highly recommend.

Before the game on Monday night, we headed out to Logan Square for breakfast/lunch at Longman & Eagle. I loved the interior of this place…and my Croque Madame was silly good. Their branding [they have an online store!] and overall styling of the space was really unique. Not to mention…it’s also an inn in addition to a restaurant! Reserve on of their 6 rooms here.

And the point of the whole trip…DA BEARS played The New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field. Much to Billy’s dismay, The Bears lost…but we still had a blast! Yay, Chicago.
